DTC Troubleshooting: P0833-14

DTC P0833-14: Clutch Pedal Position Switch B Stuck OFF

NOTE:

	Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information.
	If DTC U0029-00 is indicated at the same time, do the DTC U0029-00 troubleshooting first.

PGM-FI DTCs check:

PGM-FI DTCs check

?1.	Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?2.

Check for PGM-FI DTCs with the HDS.

DTC Description	Confirmed DTC	Pending DTC	Freeze Frame

Are any DTCs indicated?


	YES

Go to indicated DTC's troubleshooting.?


	NO

Go to step 2.

PGM-FI system parameter check 1:

PGM-FI system parameter check 1

?1.

Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS while pressing the clutch pedal.

NOTE:It may take a minimum of five seconds for the parameter to change.

Does the parameter changes when the clutch is first pressed and then released?


	YES

Go to step 5.


	NO

Check the clutch pedal position switch B adjustment. If it is OK, go to step 3.

PGM-FI system parameter check 2:

PGM-FI system parameter check 2

?1.	Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.

Disconnect the following connector.

Clutch pedal position switch B 6P connector

?3.

Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

Does it indicate OPEN?


	YES

Go to step 4.


	NO

Replace the clutch pedal position switch B.?

Shorted wire check (CLUTCH SW (CRUISE) line):

Shorted wire check (CLUTCH SW (CRUISE) line)

?1.	Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.	Short the SCS line with the HDS.

?3.

Disconnect the following connector.

PCM connector A (51P)

?4.

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
	Clutch pedal position switch B 6P connector : disconnected
	PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
Test point 1	Clutch pedal position switch B 6P connector No. 6
Test point 2	Body ground

Is there continuity?


	YES

Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the PCM and the clutch pedal position switch B.?


	NO

The CLUTCH SW (CRUISE) wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then retest.

VSA modulator-control unit check:

VSA modulator-control unit check

?1.	Clear the DTC with the HDS.

?2.	Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?3.	Test-drive the vehicle at 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for 2 seconds or more. NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.

?4.

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P0833-14 indicated?


	YES

Go to step 6.


	NO

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the Freeze data/on-board snapshot.?

VSA modulator-control unit check (update):

VSA modulator-control unit check (update)

?1.	Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software.

?2.	Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?3.	Test-drive the vehicle at 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for 2 seconds or more. NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.

?4.

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

DTC Description	DTC	Freeze Frame

Is DTC P0833-14 indicated?


	YES

Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector. If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated and the symptom/indication is still present, replace the VSA modulator-control unit.?


	NO

Troubleshooting is complete. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.?
